Blue Jays hit three homers in the fifth, beat Orioles 8-1

Toronto hit three home runs in the fifth inning and added four runs in the eighth to beat Baltimore 8-1 on Sunday at Rogers Centre.

Andrés Giménez's double in the second, a pop-up to left that deflected off third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand, scored Charles McAdoo for a 1-0 lead. Pete Alonso tied it in the fifth with a single that scored Dylan Beavers. In the bottom of the fifth, George Springer homered to right center, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered to left, and Kazuma Okamoto homered to left, putting the Blue Jays up 4-1.

In the eighth, Brett Bateman walked with the bases loaded to score Nathan Lukes, and Springer doubled to center to bring home Brandon Valenzuela, Myles Straw and Bateman for the final margin.

Dylan Cease earned the win, allowing one run on four hits with five walks and nine strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Trevor Rogers took the loss for Baltimore, giving up four runs on seven hits, three of them home runs, with one walk and five strikeouts over 6.0 innings. Yaramil Hiraldo allowed four runs on two hits and four walks in 1.2 innings.

Springer finished 2-for-5 with four RBI. Guerrero went 4-for-5 with a homer and a double. Alonso had three hits for the Orioles, Beavers had two, and Gunnar Henderson walked three times. Baltimore struck out 15 times. Attendance was 41,805.
