Orioles score five in the second, beat Blue Jays 7-4

The Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 on Friday night at Rogers Centre, scoring six runs in the first two innings.

Dylan Beavers homered to right in the top of the first. In the second, Heston Kjerstad singled home Gunnar Henderson, Colton Cowser doubled to left to score Samuel Basallo and Christian Encarnacion-Strand, and Beavers followed with a two-run single that scored Kjerstad and Cowser for a 6-0 lead.

Kazuma Okamoto homered to right-center in the fourth for Toronto's first run, and an Andrés Giménez groundout scored Nathan Lukes in the sixth to make it 6-2. Coby Mayo homered to left in the seventh. Brett Bateman's two-run homer to center in the bottom of the ninth, scoring Ernie Clement, accounted for the final score.

Chris Bassitt earned the win, allowing two runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts in five innings. Max Scherzer took the loss, giving up six runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts in five innings. Rico Garcia recorded the save.

Beavers went 2 for 5 with three RBIs. Encarnacion-Strand had three hits, Henderson had two, and Cowser drove in two. For Toronto, Bateman went 3 for 5 with two RBIs, George Springer had two hits, and Okamoto was 2 for 4 with a double and the homer. Attendance was 42,111.
