WHERE IT TURNED

Alec Burleson's bases-clearing double in the sixth inning gave St. Louis a 3-1 win over Chicago on Sunday at Busch Stadium.

The White Sox scored first in the second, when Chase Meidroth's sacrifice fly to center brought home Andrew Benintendi. The Cardinals did not score until the sixth, when Burleson lined a double to right that scored Nathan Church, Masyn Winn and Iván Herrera for a 3-1 lead. That was the last of the scoring.

Michael McGreevy earned the win, allowing one run on three hits with three walks and six strikeouts over 6.0 innings. Gordon Graceffo followed with 2.0 hitless innings and three strikeouts, and George Soriano worked around two walks and a hit for the save.

David Sandlin took the loss for Chicago despite allowing no earned runs. He went 5.2 innings and gave up three runs, all unearned, on two hits with no walks and five strikeouts. The White Sox committed one error. Chris Murphy and Trevor Richards finished the game without allowing a run.

Church went 2-for-3 with a double and had half of the Cardinals' four hits. Burleson's double accounted for three RBI. Chicago also had four hits, including a Sam Antonacci triple and a Tristan Peters double, and drew five walks, two of them by Kyle Teel. Both teams struck out nine times. Attendance was 34,609.
