Grichuk's two-run homer in the ninth lifts White Sox over Cardinals 6-5
Leo Bernal's eighth-inning homer had put St. Louis ahead 5-4 before Randal Grichuk answered off Riley O'Brien.

Randal Grichuk hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth and the Chicago White Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-5 on Saturday night at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis scored three in the second: Masyn Winn doubled home Nolan Gorman and Thomas Saggese, and José Fermín's sacrifice fly scored Winn. Colson Montgomery drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth, and Nathan Church's double in the bottom of the inning scored Gorman for a 4-1 lead.
The White Sox tied it in the fifth. Munetaka Murakami walked with the bases loaded to score Sam Antonacci, Kyle Teel scored on Grichuk's double-play grounder, and Tristan Peters singled home Miguel Vargas.
Leo Bernal homered to right-center in the bottom of the eighth to put the Cardinals ahead 5-4. In the ninth, Grichuk homered to right with Brenton Doyle aboard for the 6-5 lead, and Bryan Hudson pitched a hitless ninth for the save.
Jordan Hicks earned the win. Riley O'Brien took the loss and the blown save, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Sean Newcomb started for Chicago and pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Kyle Leahy started for St. Louis and threw 3 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Church went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Winn was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Antonacci had two hits for Chicago, which drew 7 walks. Attendance was 40,387.
