Padres hold off Giants 7-6 after two-homer eighth cuts a 7-3 lead to one run

The San Diego Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 7-6 on Saturday afternoon at Oracle Park, surviving a two-homer eighth inning that cut a 7-3 lead to one run.
Rafael Devers put the Giants ahead 2-0 with a two-run homer to right-center in the first. Dustin Harris tied it with a two-run single in the second, and Shay Whitcomb's solo homer in the bottom of the inning made it 3-2. Jackson Merrill homered to center in the third to tie it at 3.
San Diego scored in each of the next four innings: Harris's sacrifice fly, Jake Cronenworth's bunt single that scored Austin Hays, Fernando Tatis Jr.'s homer to left, and a seventh-inning run when Tatis reached on an error by Whitcomb and Xander Bogaerts scored for a 7-3 lead.
In the eighth, Drew Cavanaugh homered to right and Drew Gilbert followed with a two-run homer, scoring Christian Koss, to make it 7-6. Adrian Morejon and Mason Miller each struck out two in scoreless innings, and Miller earned the save.
Michael King earned the win, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Cesar Perdomo took the loss after giving up 5 runs on 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Bogaerts went 4-for-5 with a double and scored twice. Tatis was 2-for-3 with a homer, 3 walks and 2 stolen bases, Hays had two hits and scored twice, and Harris drove in 3 runs. Attendance was 40,146.
