Mets hit six homers, rout Yankees 12-2 in the Bronx
Francisco Lindor homered twice, including an eighth-inning grand slam, and Zac Thornton held the Yankees to two runs over seven innings.

The New York Mets hit six home runs and beat the New York Yankees 12-2 on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Francisco Lindor opened the game with a homer to right in the top of the first. Luis Torrens followed with a two-run shot to left in the second, and Carson Benge homered to right-center in the third for a 4-0 lead. Cody Bellinger singled home Paul Goldschmidt in the bottom of the fourth to get the Yankees on the board, but Benge answered with an RBI single in the fifth to make it 5-1.
Bellinger homered to right-center in the sixth to cut it to 5-2. Juan Soto homered in the seventh, Torrens doubled in Marcus Semien in the eighth, and Lindor followed with a grand slam to right-center that made it 11-2. Jared Young's solo homer in the ninth closed the scoring.
Zac Thornton earned the win, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Gerrit Cole took the loss after giving up 5 runs on 9 hits, 3 of them homers, in 4 1/3 innings with no walks and 4 strikeouts.
Lindor went 3-for-5 with two homers and 5 RBIs. Young was 3-for-5 with a homer, Torrens 2-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBIs, and Benge 2-for-5 with a homer and 2 RBIs. Soto added two hits, including his homer. Bellinger had two hits and both Yankees RBIs. The Mets finished with 14 hits. Attendance was 46,864.
