Cleveland homered three times and collected 14 hits in a 9-2 win over Minnesota on Sunday at Target Field.
Steven Kwan led off the game with a home run to right field, and Jo Adell homered to left in the third for a 2-0 lead. Kody Clemens's double scored Luke Keaschall in the bottom of the third to cut it to 2-1. The Guardians answered in the fourth: Kwan doubled to right to score Brayan Rocchio, and Travis Bazzana singled home Kwan for a 4-1 lead. Bazzana's two-run homer to right center in the sixth, with Rocchio scoring ahead of him, made it 6-1.
Trevor Larnach homered to right in the seventh for Minnesota's second run. Cleveland added three in the ninth on Adell's ground-rule double that scored Petey Halpin, Nathaniel Lowe's sacrifice fly that scored Bazzana, and Angel Martínez's double that scored Adell.
Tanner Bibee earned the win, allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Joe Ryan took the loss after giving up four runs on seven hits, two of them homers, with one walk and one strikeout in 4.0 innings.
Kwan went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and two RBI. Bazzana was 2-for-4 with three RBI, Adell 2-for-5 with two RBI, and Martínez doubled twice. Lowe also had two hits. For the Twins, Larnach was 2-for-3 with a homer and a double, and Keaschall had two hits. Minnesota struck out 11 times. Attendance was 17,676.
