Reds edge Brewers 4-3 on Stephenson's eighth-inning sacrifice fly

Eugenio Suárez's three-run homer erased a 2-0 deficit, and Tyler Stephenson drove in the go-ahead run after Jake Bauers had tied it.

WHERE IT TURNED

Cincinnati scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning and beat Milwaukee 4-3 on Sunday at American Family Field.

Joey Ortiz put the Brewers ahead 2-0 in the second with a home run to center that also scored Christian Yelich. The score held until the sixth, when Eugenio Suárez homered to right center with Elly De La Cruz and Sal Stewart on base for a 3-2 Cincinnati lead. Jake Bauers tied it in the seventh with a line-drive homer to right center. In the eighth, Tyler Stephenson's sacrifice fly to right scored De La Cruz for the final margin.

Brandon Williamson earned the win with 4.0 innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits with no walks and two strikeouts. Emilio Pagán recorded the save. Abner Uribe took the loss after allowing one run on two hits in 1.0 inning.

Chase Burns started for Cincinnati and allowed two runs on two hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 3.0 innings. Robert Gasser went 5.0 innings for Milwaukee, allowing one run on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Antonio Senzatela was charged with two runs and a home run while recording one out.

Suárez drove in three runs. De La Cruz went 2-for-5 and scored twice, and Stewart had two hits. Ortiz drove in two for the Brewers, and Brice Turang went 2-for-3 with a walk. Milwaukee finished with six hits to Cincinnati's eight. Attendance was 40,559.
