Brewers hit three homers, score 13 to beat Reds 13-9

Garrett Mitchell went 4-for-5 with a homer, a double and four RBIs, and Milwaukee broke a 5-5 tie with eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

WHERE IT TURNED

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds 13-9 on Saturday night at American Family Field, scoring eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings to break a 5-5 tie.

Brice Turang and Garrett Mitchell hit two-run homers in the first for a 4-0 lead. Eugenio Suárez homered in the second, Elly De La Cruz doubled in Dane Myers in the third, and Cooper Pratt's single scored Mitchell in the bottom half for 5-2. In the fourth, JJ Bleday doubled home Suárez and Juan Brito followed with a two-run homer to tie it at 5.

William Contreras answered with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth for an 8-5 lead. Milwaukee added five in the fifth: Jake Bauers singled home Pratt and Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich singled in Turang, and Mitchell doubled to score Bauers and Yelich for 13-5.

Cincinnati scored four in the eighth on Suárez's single, Brito's single and Ke'Bryan Hayes's double-play grounder to make it 13-9.

Chad Patrick earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of one-hit relief and 4 strikeouts. Brady Singer took the loss after allowing 8 runs on 8 hits, 3 of them homers, in 4 innings with 5 walks and 5 strikeouts. Shane Drohan started for Milwaukee and gave up 5 runs on 5 hits in 3 2/3 innings with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Mitchell finished 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs, and Turang was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. For Cincinnati, Suárez and Brito each went 3-for-4 with a homer. Attendance was 41,167.
