Tigers score seven in the eighth to beat Rockies 11-7

Detroit trailed 7-4 entering the bottom of the eighth and batted its way to a seven-run inning capped by Hao-Yu Lee's two-run triple.

The Detroit Tigers scored seven runs in the eighth inning to turn a 7-4 deficit into an 11-7 win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday afternoon at Comerica Park.

Hunter Goodman put Colorado ahead 3-0 with a three-run homer to left in the third. Detroit answered in the bottom half when Kevin McGonigle homered to right-center and Max Clark singled home Riley Greene to make it 3-2. Adael Amador's RBI double in the fourth pushed the lead to 4-2, but Hao-Yu Lee doubled in Brett Callahan and Colt Keith singled in Lee to tie it at 4.

Jake McCarthy's two-run single in the sixth put the Rockies back in front 6-4, and Ezequiel Tovar's homer in the eighth made it 7-4.

In the eighth, Gleyber Torres doubled in Lee, Greene singled home Torres, and bases-loaded walks to Spencer Torkelson and Ben Malgeri made it 8-7. John Peck's sacrifice fly added a run, and Lee's two-run triple closed the scoring at 11-7.

Beau Brieske earned the win; Jaden Hill took the loss without recording an out. Tanner Gordon started for Colorado and gave up 4 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Andrew Sears went 4 1/3 innings for Detroit, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.

Lee finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and 3 RBIs. Eduardo Valencia and Clark also had three hits for Detroit, and Goodman drove in three for Colorado. Attendance was 32,019.
