WHERE IT TURNED

Detroit scored in each of the first two innings and beat Colorado 8-1 on Sunday at Comerica Park.

Adael Amador put the Rockies up 1-0 with a leadoff home run to right field in the top of the first. The lead lasted half an inning: Riley Greene homered to left with Colt Keith aboard in the bottom of the first for a 2-1 Detroit edge. In the second, John Peck singled home Max Clark, and Kevin McGonigle tripled to center to score Zach McKinstry and Peck for a 5-1 lead. The triple was reviewed as a possible home run and the call on the field stood.

Hao-Yu Lee's sacrifice fly and a Greene single that scored McGonigle made it 7-1 in the fourth, and Spencer Torkelson homered to left center in the fifth for the final margin.

Jackson Jobe earned the win, allowing one run on three hits with one walk and eight strikeouts over 6.1 innings. Gabriel Hughes took the loss for Colorado after giving up five runs, all earned, on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 2.0 innings.

Greene finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Torkelson was 2-for-4 with a homer, and McGonigle drove in two. Vimael Machín had two of Colorado's five hits. The Rockies struck out 11 times. Attendance was 22,726.
