Tigers score four in the sixth, beat Rockies 6-2

The Detroit Tigers beat the Colorado Rockies 6-2 on Friday night at Comerica Park, breaking the game open with four runs in the sixth inning.

Colorado scored first in the top of the fifth when Cole Carrigg reached on a fielding error by third baseman Kevin McGonigle and Ezequiel Tovar came home. Max Clark tied it in the bottom of the inning with a homer to right.

In the sixth, Riley Greene tripled to score Gleyber Torres, Dillon Dingler followed with a two-run homer to left, and a walk to John Peck brought in another run for a 5-1 lead. Greene doubled home Spencer Torkelson in the eighth. Colorado's second run came in the ninth on a Zac Veen single that scored Adael Amador.

Framber Valdez earned the win, giving up one unearned run on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in six innings. Mark Manfredi took the loss after allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning. Kenley Jansen recorded the save. Rockies starter Mason Adams went five innings and allowed one run on two hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Greene finished 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Dingler and Clark each homered. Jake McCarthy had three hits for Colorado and Carrigg had two. Attendance was 33,245.
