Rangers build 7-1 lead, survive Diamondbacks' late rally 7-6

Corey Seager homered and drove in three, and Arizona scored five runs over the seventh and ninth innings before running out of outs.

Texas led 7-1 after six innings and held on to beat Arizona 7-6 on Sunday at Chase Field.

Corey Seager homered to center in the first with Justin Foscue aboard for a 2-0 lead. Gabriel Moreno's solo homer to left in the fourth cut it to 2-1. In the fifth, Josh Jung's single to left scored Foscue and Seager, with a fielding error by left fielder Lars Nootbaar on the play, and Brandon Nimmo singled home Jung for a 5-1 lead. Danny Jansen's double scored Ezequiel Duran in the sixth, and Seager followed with a single that scored Jansen to make it 7-1.

Nolan Arenado's three-run homer to left in the seventh, scoring Geraldo Perdomo and Corbin Carroll, brought Arizona within 7-4. In the ninth, Tim Tawa doubled to right to score Arenado and Jordan Lawlar doubled to left to score Tawa, but the Diamondbacks got no closer.

Cal Quantrill earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Jacob Latz allowed two runs on three hits but recorded the save. Eduardo Rodriguez took the loss for Arizona, charged with six runs, three earned, on eight hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in 5.1 innings.

Seager went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI, and Jung and Nimmo had two hits each. Perdomo went 3-for-4 for Arizona, and Arenado was 2-for-4 with a homer, a double and three RBI. Attendance was 28,843.
