The Texas Rangers scored six runs in the fifth inning and beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 on Saturday night at Chase Field.
Arizona led 1-0 after Pavin Smith singled home Tim Tawa in the bottom of the third. In the top of the fifth, Wyatt Langford tied it with a homer to left-center. Elias Díaz singled in Jake Burger, Josh Jung singled home Díaz, Brandon Nimmo doubled to right to score Corey Seager, and Ezequiel Duran's two-run single scored Jung and Nimmo for a 6-1 lead. Corbin Carroll's sacrifice fly in the sixth scored Gabriel Moreno for Arizona's second run.
Robert Garcia earned the win with a hitless inning of relief. Brandon Pfaadt took the loss after allowing 6 runs on 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings with no walks and 7 strikeouts. Kumar Rocker started for Texas and gave up 1 run on 2 hits in 4 innings with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Nathan Eovaldi followed with 2 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, and Jacob Latz struck out two in 1 1/3 innings.
Díaz went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Nimmo was 2-for-5 with two doubles, Langford 2-for-4 with a homer and a double, and Jung 2-for-5 with an RBI. Duran drove in two. Texas finished with 13 hits, 4 of them doubles. Moreno had two hits for Arizona, which managed 6 hits, including a triple by Tawa. Attendance was 34,300.
