Auburn rolls past Southern Miss 43-8 behind 343 rushing yards

Auburn beat Southern Miss 43-8 on Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium, and the Tigers led from the first minute.
Andre Jordan Jr. returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown with 14:50 showing in the first quarter. Byrum Brown's 22-yard pass to Jonathan Echols at 3:45 and Alex McPherson's 47-yard field goal at 1:31 made it 17-0 after one quarter. Brown found DeShawn Spencer from 8 yards at 6:40 of the second for a 24-0 lead.
Southern Miss got its only points with 0:24 left in the half: Ethan Hampton's 1-yard pass to Steven Robinson, followed by a two-point conversion pass from Jaylen Himes to Jeremiah Beck Jr. McPherson answered with a 55-yard field goal as time expired for a 27-8 halftime margin.
Auburn added 16 points in the third quarter. Brown caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Christian Neptune at 9:56, a safety at 3:26 made it 36-8, and Omar Mabson II ran in from 2 yards with 0:09 left. Neither team scored in the fourth.
Brown finished 17 of 28 for 223 yards and two touchdowns. Mabson carried 15 times for 108 yards, and Auburn rushed for 343 yards on 51 attempts as part of 610 total yards. Southern Miss managed 221 yards and turned the ball over twice; Hampton was 18 of 27 for 146 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Attendance was 88,043.
