No. 9 Ole Miss beat Charlotte 41-9 on Saturday night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford.
Kewan Lacy's 9-yard run at 10:39 of the first quarter opened the scoring. In the second, Trinidad Chambliss hit Johntay Cook II from 14 yards at 13:55, Lacy scored again from 2 yards at 8:39, and Lucas Carneiro kicked field goals of 57 yards at 4:32 and 41 yards as the half expired for a 27-0 lead.
Charlotte's points all came from Ian Kelly, who kicked field goals of 28 and 24 yards in the third quarter and a 28-yarder at 9:53 of the fourth. Between the last two, Chambliss threw a 9-yard touchdown to Horatio Fields at 14:49 of the fourth, and Deuce Knight's 7-yard run at 7:10 set the final.
Chambliss finished 23 of 26 for 225 yards and two touchdowns; Deuce Alexander caught 8 passes for 76 yards, and Lacy ran 13 times for 87 yards and two scores. Ole Miss totaled 420 yards while holding the ball for 22:46 and converting 1 of 4 third downs. Charlotte held possession for 37:14 and gained 322 yards but was 3 of 14 on third down. Cole Gonzales was 14 of 21 for 128 yards with an interception. Attendance was 68,134.
