No. 23 Missouri beat Kansas 38-21 on Friday night at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence.
There was no scoring in the first quarter. Kansas struck first when Austin Alexander returned a blocked field goal 88 yards for a touchdown at 7:16 of the second. Jamal Roberts answered with a 64-yard run at 5:22, Isaiah Marshall's 20-yard pass to Nik McMillan put Kansas back ahead at 1:48, and Austin Simmons found Cayden Lee from 27 yards with 0:30 left for a 14-14 halftime tie.
Missouri took control early in the third. Simmons hit Donovan Olugbode from 8 yards at 11:40 and Xai'Shaun Edwards ran in from 10 yards at 10:52 for a 28-14 lead. Marshall's 10-yard pass to Nahzae Cox at 2:07 brought Kansas within seven. Blake Craig's 32-yard field goal at 11:46 of the fourth and Simmons' 13-yard pass to Brett Norfleet at 2:02 finished it.
Simmons was 19 of 29 for 292 yards and three touchdowns; Olugbode caught 6 passes for 121 yards. Roberts carried 28 times for 125 yards. Missouri gained 469 total yards to Kansas' 255. Marshall completed 13 of 30 for 168 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, and the Jayhawks converted 3 of 15 third downs and committed three turnovers. Attendance was 32,000.
