No. 22 Houston beat Southern 77-6 on Saturday night at TDECU Stadium.
Houston scored four touchdowns in the first quarter: Conner Weigman's 9-yard pass to Patrick Overmyer at 8:59, Re'Shaun Sanford II's 9-yard run at 6:52, Makhi Hughes' 1-yard run at 4:11, and Weigman's 8-yard throw to Amare Thomas at 0:28. Weigman hit Koby Young from 43 yards at 10:57 of the second, and Keisean Henderson threw scoring passes of 7 yards to Young at 6:10 and 20 yards to John Hebert at 1:36 for a 49-0 halftime lead.
Henderson ran 54 yards for a touchdown at 13:43 of the third, DJ Butler scored from 9 yards at 9:39, and Hebert ran in from 7 yards at 4:57 to make it 70-0. Southern's only points came at 4:38 on Wyatt McCauley's 79-yard pass to Wydell Clark Jr.; the extra point was blocked. Luke Carney's 8-yard run at 5:56 of the fourth set the final.
