No. 15 BYU rallies past Arizona 28-17 on Bear Bachmeier's three touchdown passes

No. 15 BYU scored the game's last two touchdowns and beat Arizona 28-17 on Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo.

Arizona led twice in the first half. Noah Fifita's 11-yard run put the Wildcats up 7-0 at 9:10 of the first quarter; Bear Bachmeier answered with a 6-yard run at 5:16, and Michael Salgado-Medina's 37-yard field goal with 0:24 left made it 10-7. Bachmeier's 25-yard pass to Reggie Frischknecht at 12:46 of the second gave BYU its first lead at 14-10, and Fifita's 16-yard throw to Shane King with 2:03 left in the half sent Arizona to the break ahead 17-14.

Bachmeier then found Kyler Kasper twice, from 6 yards at 9:37 of the third for a 21-17 lead and from 12 yards at 6:10 of the fourth for the final margin. Arizona did not score after halftime.

Bachmeier finished 16 of 26 for 217 yards and three touchdowns; Legend Glasker caught 3 passes for 74 yards, and LJ Martin ran 20 times for 98 yards. Tausili Akana was credited with 2.5 sacks. Fifita completed 23 of 31 for 230 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and Kedrick Reescano led Arizona with 49 yards on 15 carries. BYU outgained Arizona 365 yards to 327 and converted 6 of 11 third downs; Arizona held the ball for 33:41 but committed the game's only turnover. Attendance was 64,409.
