No. 25 Virginia scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and beat Norfolk State 59-3 on Friday at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville.
Beau Pribula threw 6 yards to Jacquon Gibson at 7:39, 27 yards to Da'Shawn Martin at 5:30 and 30 yards to Gibson at 3:12 for a 21-0 lead. Marco Peery's 40-yard field goal at 4:05 of the second was Norfolk State's only score, and Peyton Lewis ran in from 3 yards at 1:04 for a 28-3 halftime lead. Eli Holstein threw touchdowns to Ty'Lyric Coleman from 1 yard at 10:57 of the third and to Isaiah Robinson from 5 yards at 7:21. Cole Geer's 12-yard pass to Hayden Rollison at 14:54 of the fourth, Will Bettridge's 30-yard field goal at 7:23 and Justin Rowe's 50-yard interception return at 4:17 finished it.
Pribula was 12 of 14 for 162 yards and three touchdowns with an interception. Gibson caught 2 passes for 36 yards and two scores, and Xay Davis ran 11 times for 107 yards. Virginia totaled 466 yards, 237 of them rushing, with 25 first downs. Deljay Bailey was 15 of 25 for 142 yards with two interceptions for Norfolk State, which gained 223 yards, converted 4 of 17 third downs and turned the ball over three times. Attendance was 46,918.
