Wake Forest outlasts Purdue 38-36 in double overtime
Purdue's failed two-point pass in the second overtime left the door open, and Gio Lopez's 3-yard run and two-point conversion run walked through it.

Wake Forest beat Purdue 38-36 in two overtimes on Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, after Purdue tied the game with a field goal as regulation ended.
Fame Ijeboi's 14-yard run at 10:43 of the first quarter put Purdue up 7-0. Ty Clark III's 4-yard run at 4:58 tied it, Connor Calvert's 39-yard field goal at 11:49 of the second put Wake Forest ahead, and Gio Lopez's 1-yard run at 3:55 made it 17-7. Jacobo Echeverria Lozano's 22-yard field goal with 0:02 left cut it to 17-10 at halftime. Calvert and Echeverria Lozano traded third-quarter field goals, and Calvert's 44-yarder at 9:13 of the fourth made it 23-13. Ijeboi's 7-yard run at 3:53 brought Purdue within 23-20, and Echeverria Lozano's 20-yard field goal at 0:00 sent it to overtime at 23-23.
In the first overtime, Lopez threw 24 yards to Bryce Kania and Ryan Browne answered with a 9-yard pass to De'Nylon Morrissette, 30-30. In the second, Ijeboi ran in from 3 yards but the two-point pass failed, leaving Purdue at 36. Lopez ran in from 3 yards and added the two-point run himself for 38-36.
Browne completed 32 of 42 for 329 yards, and Ijeboi carried 27 times for 114 yards and three touchdowns. Lopez was 16 of 27 for 225 yards and ran 13 times for 59 yards and two scores. Purdue outgained Wake Forest 455 yards to 411 and held the ball for 32:12. Neither team committed a turnover. Attendance was 50,363.
