Maryland beat UConn 38-14 on Saturday at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, with Malik Washington completing 34 of 41 passes for 347 yards.
UConn scored first on Kalieb Osborne's 36-yard pass to JD Willoughby at 4:39 of the first quarter. Washington answered with a 60-yard throw to Na'eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding at 3:24 to tie it. Harry Dalton III's 4-yard run at 7:51 of the second and Sean O'Haire's 19-yard field goal with 0:04 left gave the Terrapins a 17-7 halftime lead. Iverson Howard's 1-yard run at 8:42 of the third made it 24-7; Osborne's 39-yard pass to Shamar Porter at 5:29 brought UConn within 24-14, but Dalton ran in from 2 yards at 1:53 and Washington's 13-yard pass to Chris Durr Jr. at 10:57 of the fourth finished it.
Gladding caught 8 passes for 130 yards, and Howard ran 14 times for 55 yards. Derrick LeBlanc had two sacks. Maryland totaled 475 yards with 27 first downs, held the ball for 35:31, converted 8 of 15 third downs and did not turn the ball over.
Osborne was 10 of 21 for 156 yards and two touchdowns for UConn and was also the Huskies' leading rusher with 30 yards on 13 carries; Porter caught 3 passes for 62 yards. UConn gained 223 yards, converted 3 of 11 third downs and lost a fumble. Attendance was 34,494.
