Boubacar Traore returned a fumble 24 yards for a touchdown at 14:46 of the first quarter. CJ Carr threw to Jordan Faison for scores of 25 yards at 10:30 and 11 yards at 3:51, and it was 21-0 after one quarter. Nolan James Jr. scored on 1-yard runs at 13:43 and 4:26 of the second, and Carr hit Micah Gilbert from 39 yards with 1:17 left in the half for a 42-0 lead. Carr's fourth touchdown pass, 2 yards to Cooper Flanagan at 11:41 of the third, and Spencer Porath's 36-yard field goal at 4:21 closed the scoring. Neither team scored in the fourth.
Carr finished 16 of 20 for 253 yards and four touchdowns. Jerome Bettis Jr. caught two passes for 61 yards, and Jonaz Walton led the ground game with 48 yards on eight carries. Notre Dame totaled 478 yards, went 7 of 12 on third down and did not turn the ball over.
Rice managed 128 total yards, 64 passing and 64 rushing, and lost four fumbles. Jacurri Brown was 8 of 12 for 64 yards and carried 16 times for 32 yards. The Owls converted 2 of 12 third downs. Bryce Young had a sack for the Irish. Attendance was 77,622.
