UTSA beat Texas State 31-26 on Saturday at UFCU Stadium, taking the lead for the last time on Brandon High Jr.'s 25-yard touchdown run with 0:14 on the clock.
Owen McCown's 1-yard pass to Brandon Young Jr. at 4:54 of the first quarter put UTSA up 7-0. Texas State took over the second: Davian Jackson ran 16 yards at 13:09, Brad Jackson scored from 6 yards at 7:16, and Jacob Bonilla kicked a 51-yard field goal as time expired for a 17-7 halftime lead.
Mekhi Anderson caught a 44-yard touchdown from David Amador II at 13:01 of the third, and Michael Petro's 34-yard field goal at 7:46 tied it at 17. Brad Jackson's 13-yard pass to Chris Dawn Jr. at the end of the quarter put the Bobcats up 23-17; the extra point failed. A'Marion Peterson's 2-yard run at 11:54 of the fourth gave UTSA a 24-23 lead, Bonilla's 26-yard field goal at 4:36 put Texas State back ahead 26-24, and High's run settled it.
McCown finished 28 of 42 for 214 yards. Will Henderson III ran 14 times for 80 yards, and UTSA converted 5 of 6 fourth downs. Texas State ran for 289 yards, 149 by Torrance Burgess Jr. on 17 carries, and totaled 481, but turned the ball over three times. Brad Jackson was 17 of 30 for 192 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Attendance was 22,019.
