South Florida beat Army 28-24 on Saturday at Michie Stadium, scoring twice in the last 3:13 to overturn a 24-14 deficit.
Michael Van Buren Jr. threw 7 yards to Bryson Rodgers at 11:00 of the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. Army took the second quarter: Cale Hellums found Zach Mundell from 24 yards at 11:47 and Godspower Nwawuihe from 4 yards at 0:13 for a 14-7 halftime edge. Van Buren's 18-yard run at 8:59 of the third tied it.
Dawson Jones kicked a 27-yard field goal at 14:05 of the fourth, and Nwawuihe's 10-yard run at 4:59 made it 24-14. Van Buren answered with a 24-yard run at 3:13, then hit Joshua Porter for a 38-yard touchdown at 0:19.
Van Buren finished 19 of 30 for 239 yards and two touchdowns and ran five times for 45 yards and two more scores. Porter caught three passes for 67 yards. Hellums was 9 of 10 for 91 yards and two touchdowns; Nwawuihe ran 20 times for 94 yards. Army carried 51 times for 219 yards and held the ball for 35:46 but lost a fumble, the game's only turnover. South Florida finished with 369 total yards to Army's 347. Attendance was 23,670.
