UAB beat UL Monroe 26-20 on Saturday at Protective Stadium, scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter after trailing 20-10.
CJ Phillip's 1-yard run at 5:09 of the first quarter put UL Monroe up 7-0. Jonah Delange's 41-yard field goal at 14:11 of the second got UAB on the board, Austin Carlisle ran 7 yards for a touchdown at 10:58, and Bam McReynolds answered with a 27-yard run at 6:45. Abram Murray's 32-yard field goal as the half ended made it 17-10.
Murray kicked a 24-yarder at 10:24 of the third, and Delange hit from 45 yards at 7:00 for a 20-13 score. Delange's 34-yard field goal at 13:32 of the fourth cut it to 20-16, Ryder Burton threw 43 yards to EJ Reid at 9:34 for the lead, and Delange's 42-yarder at 1:10 closed it.
UAB ran 52 times for 266 yards, led by Rod Robinson II with 114 on 21 carries, and converted 10 of 15 third downs. Burton was 8 of 16 for 115 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Carlisle went 10 of 19 for 56 yards for the Warhawks and ran 17 times for 93. UL Monroe finished with 257 total yards, 201 of them rushing. UAB turned it over twice; UL Monroe once. Attendance was 21,153.
