Tulane beat South Alabama 28-24 on Saturday at Yulman Stadium, taking the lead for the last time on Kadin Semonza's 14-yard pass to Destyn Hill at 1:17 of the fourth quarter.
Davis Little's 40-yard field goal at 8:03 of the first quarter and PJ Martin's 16-yard run at 1:31 put South Alabama up 10-0. Johnnie Daniels scored on runs of 2 yards at 14:57 and 3 yards at 1:55 of the second for a 14-10 Tulane halftime lead.
Bishop Davenport threw 43 yards to Anthony Eager at 12:17 of the third to put the Jaguars back ahead 17-14, and Jaylin Lucas answered with an 80-yard run at 4:53. Davenport's 17-yard pass to Brendan Jenkins at 11:49 of the fourth made it 24-21 South Alabama before Hill's catch decided it.
Lucas finished with 214 yards on 11 carries, and Tulane rushed for 212 yards and passed for 212 more. Semonza was 14 of 22 for 212 yards; Hill caught four passes for 91 yards.
Davenport completed 22 of 32 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns, and Jenkins caught nine for 119. South Alabama held the ball for 37:40, converted 10 of 16 third downs and totaled 478 yards to Tulane's 424. Neither team turned the ball over. Attendance was 24,323.
