New Mexico beat Mercyhurst 70-7 on Saturday at University Stadium, scoring 42 points in the second quarter.
Luke Moga's 1-yard run at 0:27 of the first quarter put the Lobos ahead, and Anthony Wolter answered with a 75-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Yancey at 0:13 to tie it at 7. That was Mercyhurst's only score.
The second quarter went: Kiefer Sibley's 36-yard run at 14:14, Moga's 42-yard pass to Cade Keith at 13:09, Scottre Humphrey's 2-yard run at 12:19, Toa Fa'avae's 64-yard pass to Troy Omeire at 9:14, Fa'avae's 26-yard run at 6:57 and Humphrey's 3-yard run at 0:50, for a 49-7 halftime lead. Deshaun Buchanan ran 5 yards at 10:46 of the third, Moga threw 35 yards to DJ Darling at 9:11, and Jerod Terry Jr.'s 8-yard run at 5:41 of the fourth made it 70.
New Mexico ran 52 times for 287 yards; Humphrey had 110 on 15 carries. Fa'avae was 3 of 9 for 91 yards, and Omeire caught two passes for 70. Brett Karhu had 1.5 sacks.
Mercyhurst gained 155 yards, 18 of them rushing, and turned the ball over six times on four interceptions and two lost fumbles. Wolter was 9 of 20 for 111 yards with three interceptions; Yancey's one catch was the 75-yard score. The Lakers converted 2 of 13 third downs and were penalized 11 times for 98 yards.
