Kent State scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to beat Wofford 36-15 on Saturday at Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium, after trailing 15-14 at halftime.
Dru DeShields opened the scoring with a 12-yard run at 10:23 of the first quarter. Wofford went ahead with Sam Spence's 28-yard field goal at 3:20, Gerald Modest Jr.'s 10-yard run at 9:29 of the second, and a safety at 3:04 that made it 12-7. Rafael Terrero Jr. returned an interception 63 yards for a Kent State touchdown at 1:50, but Spence's 50-yard field goal with 0:02 left gave the Terriers a 15-14 lead.
The third quarter was scoreless. Jakorion Caffey's 5-yard run at 14:21 of the fourth, followed by DeShields's two-point pass to Wayne Harris, put Kent State ahead 22-15. DeShields ran 20 yards for a touchdown at 8:27 and threw 10 yards to Harris at 4:16 for the final margin.
DeShields finished 16 of 25 for 248 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, and ran 10 times for 74 yards and two more scores. Da'Realyst Clark caught five passes for 90 yards. Ethan Drumm was 9 of 16 for 100 yards with two interceptions for Wofford, and Modest ran 14 times for 56 yards. Kent State outgained Wofford 448 yards to 173, held the ball for 37:22, and converted 11 of 19 third downs; the Terriers went 0 for 12. Attendance was 7,887.
