Arkansas State beat West Georgia 52-7 on Saturday at Centennial Bank Stadium, scoring twice on defensive returns and holding the Wolves to 246 total yards.
The first quarter was scoreless. Trey Owens threw 28 yards to Chauncy Cobb at 12:50 of the second and 30 yards to Jaylen Bonelli at 5:28, and Noah Flores returned a fumble 68 yards at 1:19 for a 21-0 lead. West Georgia's only score came with 0:05 left in the half, Colton Fitzgerald's 37-yard pass to T.J. Lockley.
Five Hamilton returned an interception 91 yards at 11:13 of the third, Kenyon Clay ran in from 5 yards at 8:26, and Clune Van Andel kicked a 25-yard field goal at 1:43 for a 38-7 lead. Drew Dickey's 4-yard run at 9:49 of the fourth and Solomon Baggett's 33-yard run at 2:31 finished it.
Owens completed 13 of 17 for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Baggett ran eight times for 70 yards, and Cobb caught four passes for 54 yards. Fitzgerald was 14 of 24 for 149 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for West Georgia, which lost two fumbles as well and was penalized 12 times for 97 yards. Arkansas State rushed for 256 of its 391 yards and held the ball for 32:02. Attendance was 16,678.
