Buffalo beat Houston 36-31 on Sunday in Houston.
Tyler Bass' 46-yard field goal at 7:28 of the first quarter put Buffalo ahead, and David Montgomery's 1-yard run with 0:32 left gave Houston a 7-3 lead. Josh Allen ran 21 yards for a touchdown at 12:46 of the second, Montgomery answered from 18 yards at 4:48, and Allen scored again from 1 yard at 3:59 for a 17-14 Buffalo lead. Allen's 43-yard pass to DJ Moore at 1:29 made it 24-14, and C.J. Stroud's 12-yard throw to Nico Collins with 0:26 left cut it to 24-21 at the half.
Bass hit from 34 yards at 4:24 of the third for a 27-21 lead. Stroud's 7-yard pass to Montgomery at 13:34 of the fourth put Houston up 28-27. Bass' 33-yarder at 10:31 made it 30-28 Buffalo, and Ka'imi Fairbairn's 58-yard field goal at 6:44 put the Texans back in front 31-30. Allen then found Joshua Palmer for 34 yards with 1:36 to play; the two-point pass failed.
Allen finished 20 of 29 for 334 yards and two touchdown passes, and Dalton Kincaid caught 5 passes for 130 yards. Greg Rousseau had two sacks. Stroud was 26 of 38 for 274 yards and two touchdowns, and Montgomery ran 20 times for 60 yards and two scores. Houston held the ball for 36:17 and converted 7 of 16 third downs but lost two fumbles. Buffalo had no turnovers and 409 total yards to Houston's 381. Attendance was 71,008.
